Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes (220 km via Route 40 and Route 23). The road crosses some of the most beautiful steppe landscapes in all of Patagonia — guanacos, condors, and the Fitz Roy massif gradually coming into view.
In a full day (8–10 hours) you can do the Laguna de los Tres trek (8 hours, Fitz Roy views) or the Laguna Torre trek (5 hours, Cerro Torre views). You can also visit the shorter Mirador del Fitz Roy (2 hours) and explore the village. We coordinate the departure time from El Calafate based on your chosen trek.
No. The trails in El Chaltén are very well marked and safe without a guide. At the Visitors Center (mandatory stop at the park entrance) they brief you on trail conditions. If you want a local guide, we can help coordinate one separately.
Yes. Los Glaciares National Park entrance is paid on arrival to the village. If you already visited Perito Moreno Glacier, show your ticket for a 50% discount. Stop at the Visitors Center upon arrival — they'll brief you on current trail conditions.
